How I became an event host in Davao

Emcee Vin – Your Host in Davao for Wedding, Debut Party, and Corporate Events

Let me tell you this: If it’s a matter of hosting events, I’d say that I have quite a number of experiences already prior to becoming a professional one. I can vividly remember that my first time to host an event was for a school affair back in college at Assumption College of Davao.

If you are an Assumptionista, you are likely to develop a repertoire of skills such as emceeing for an event. Expectedly, when you enroll to a communication-related course such as Education (major in English), you would really be asked to face the crowd and deliver a good show. That’s exactly how it all started.

If my memory serves me right, while still a student, I was able to host for more than 10 events at the college. The one that I can never forget was for our intramural fiesta. It was unforgettable because I’d say that’s one of the most challenging hosting stints that I had — not to mention the electricity was out for almost half an hour — but still, the show had to go on!

As soon I got my first teaching job at Mandug Christian Development and Training Center, I was oftentimes the one who’s asked to emcee for school affairs such as monthly programs, convocation of honors, commencement exercises, and even teachers’ day. When I got back to my college alma mater (as a senior high school instructor), I also emceed for various events — especially for the commencement exercise.

The one who pushed me to consider professional hosting was Franklin Cuadrillero (locally known as “Papa Kiko”). It was the dog days of summer when he had to go on vacation. He was asked by Sir Kyam dela Cruz, the CEO of M-KP Events (formerly known as KP Events) — to host for a wedlock party. I was so grateful for I was trusted by my former college professor in MASSCOMM (Papa Kiko himself), to take over the role.

After some time, some other event organizers in Davao has started considering me. To name a few, I’ve worked for Party Fab Events and Catering Services, Golden Petals (formerly known as Balay ni Jack), Sweetest Joy Events, and Menorosa Events Management Services.

As of now, emceeing has become my passion. I really miss if I don’t get the chance to host an event. There is so much joy in hosting.
